As you know, I was fortunate enough to have had an incredible of experience of leaving my home country in search of greener coaching education pastures. Six years ago, I began my UEFA licensing in Granada, Spain and in that time I had the pleasure of learning from some of the best minds in Spanish football. Over the past couple of months, I have been communicating with some of my past professors to see if we could give other coaches from around the world a similar experience and put together a five day coaching course which would replicate the life-changing experience I had.
My goal with the It’s Just a Sport blog was always to bring back snippets of the coaching journey I took when I moved to Spain. With this course, I want give coaches the opportunity to experience it for themselves.
The course is comprised of five days of coaching education. Mornings are dedicated to theory classes with a different UEFA PRO licensed course professor (the highest coaching qualification in Europe) working through a different topic every day.
The course material presented will be in line with the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation) game model. This includes the theory behind the positional play game model in place at all levels within the Spanish system, as well as the practical side of designing training exercises to develop players using this framework. All of the material will be delivered in English.
In the evening course participants would observe a different Spanish club’s training session every day.
Needless to say, afternoons are filled with informal discussions about all things football over Spanish tapas.
Additionally, the course participants attend one La Liga game (Atletico Madrid vs. Eibar, Granada vs. Levante, or Sevilla vs. Villareal).
Where and When ?
The first annual course will take place on December 9th-13th with the La Liga game the weekend of December 14th. The course will take place in Granada, Spain with some team visits to Malaga and/or Sevilla.
Course participants would need to find their own transportation to and from Spain as well as their own accommodation in Granada, Spain. We would provide insight at areas of the city. We can book accommodations for you for an additional fee.
The price of the course is $1500.
The price includes:
15 hours of theoretical classes delivered by UEFA Pro Licensed instructors and myself
5 visits to Spanish youth clubs to observe training sessions
Spanish tapas lunch everyday of the course
One ticket to a La Liga game
Transportation to and from club visits
I can’t begin to describe how excited I am to be putting this together. I have always wanted to provide the same experience I had of learning a new football culture, exploring new methodologies, connecting with like-minded coaches and diving deeper into the beautiful sport we all love with the help of some of the most brilliant minds in Spanish football.
