HOW TO ANALYZE FOOTBALL | LEVEL 1

A 5-week live online course that teaches you how to watch football like a coach — to read structure, intentions, and patterns instead of following the ball.

NEXT COHORT STARTS FRIDAY, MARCH 6

Live online sessions on March 6, 13, 20, 27 and April 3.

Coaching starts with seeing

If you can’t see what’s happening, you can’t explain it.

If you can’t explain it, you can’t train it.

This course teaches you how to watch football with clarity, so you can understand the game’s underlying problems — not just the surface actions.

This course is for coaches who want to:

✓ Improve tactical clarity

✓ Communicate ideas precisely

✓ Connect matches to training

✓ Spot patterns instead of chasing the ball

✓ Deepen their understanding of the game

What You’ll Learn

Across 5 live sessions, you’ll learn how to break the game down through four macro moments:

  • Teams don’t just pass out of the back — they build structure, invite pressure, and create the first spatial advantages.

We’ll learn how to watch the early phase of possession, identify how teams organize themselves, how they use depth and width, and how they manipulate the first pressing line to move the game forward.

  • When a team presses, they apply pressure with intention — blocking certain spaces, forcing certain passes, and setting traps.

We’ll analyze pressing structures, triggers, moments of acceleration, and the ways teams attempt to win the ball or block progression without always needing to steal it.

  • Chances and goals are rarely isolated events — they emerge from patterns, rotations, and coordinated movements across lines.

We’ll study how teams create final-third advantages, how they use wide or central corridors, how tempo shapes chance creation, and how scoring moments connect to the build phases.

  • Defending the box is not simply “stacking numbers” — it’s about controlling space, managing runners, orienting the back line, and anticipating second actions.

We’ll examine how teams reduce danger, delay execution, compress the box, defend cutbacks, and influence where opponents finish from.

  • Analysis doesn’t become useful until you can connect the dots between moments and explain what’s happening with precision.

We’ll review the key tools, re-watch selected match sequences, answer questions, and help you integrate everything into a clear, repeatable way of watching football.

Includes: short weekly assignments + personalized feedback

By the end of THIS COURSE, you’ll be able to:

  • Watch matches with tactical clarity

  • Identify team intentions

  • Recognize patterns across moments

  • Use precise language to explain the game

  • Understand how analysis links to coaching
